Why Sugar-Free?
We believe dessert should be an indulgence, not a compromise. Whether you’re choosing sugar-free as a lifestyle shift, a health-related need, or simply a mindful swap, our mission remains the same: Dessert should never taste "sugar-free." Every bite is crafted to be a rich, decadent experience that honors your choices without sacrificing cravings.
How? What makes it sweet?
Our caramels and confections are handmade in small batches using purposefully selected, minimal ingredients. Instead of refined sugar, we use a trio of plant-based alternatives that work in harmony to create a level of sweetness we feel most mirrors the treats:
• Allulose: A “rare sugar” found in fruits like figs and raisins; it tastes like sugar but is minimally metabolized by the body. Allulose is the primary sweetener in all of our fillings (caramels and confections) Read more about allulose Here
• Monk Fruit: A natural, high-intensity extract used as a sweetener is small amounts to round out the sweetness profile. Monk fruit can be found as an ingredient in our chocolate confection blends (used in both the signature and vegan treats)
• Inulin: A prebiotic fiber derived from chicory root that adds a creamy, rich mouthfeel and body.
The Foundation: What we use:
We rely on premium, whole-food ingredients for that signature melt-in-your-mouth experience.
• Premium Fats: We use high-grade Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, and Dairy Butter for natural richness. Nut butters and coconut milk powder and other plant-based swaps are used in our dairy-free alternatives.
• Roasted Nuts & Seeds: Always dry-roasted without the use of added oils.
• Pure Accents: Sea Salt and Vanilla are used to provide depth and flavor
What we do not use:
We believe what isn’t in your dessert is just as important as what is.
• No artificial sweeteners, flavors, or preservatives.
• No sugar alcohols (like erythritol or maltitol).
• No refined seed oils (like soybean or canola oil).
• No gluten-containing ingredients.
A Note on Our Chocolate Coverings
While our caramels and fillings are crafted in-house with zero seed oils, we source our premium chocolate from trusted partners.
You may notice sunflower lecithin on the label. This is a functional emulsifier used in small amounts to help maintain smooth texture, consistent flow, and stable chocolate structure.
Vegan Treats
What VEGAN means for our treats
We offer both signature and vegan collections. These are developed as distinct formulations with separate ingredient systems to support different dietary preferences.
Munka Sweet Signature Treats
Our Signature caramels and confections use dairy ingredients such as butter and cream-based components (no gelatin or collagen).
Munka Sweet Vegan Treats
Our vegan recipes do not contain any animal-derived ingredients, including dairy, gelatin, collagen, honey, or animal-derived colorants.
They are formulated using plant-based ingredients such as cocoa butter, nut butters, coconut, and plant proteins. Read more about our vegan products Here
Kitchen Safety & Allergen Note
Please Note: While we carefully select ingredients and avoid gluten-containing components, this is not an allergen-free kitchen. Read our full allergen statement Here
INGREDIENST FAQ
-
No, I am not a “chocolate maker” (yet! Stay tuned), but I am a treat maker / confectioner / chocolatier. We use suppliers to source a blend of chocolate chips that align with our brand focus (sweetened with allulose or monk fruit), which we then use as an ingredient to temper and to cover our caramels and confections.
-
In the United States, “sugar-free” is a regulated nutrient content claim defined by the FDA. To meet this standard, a product must contain less than 0.5 grams of sugar per serving.
Every Munka Sweet treat is formulated to meet this FDA requirement per serving as packaged. Read more about the guidelines Here
-
Sugar alcohols (polyols) such as maltitol, sorbitol, xylitol, and erythritol are commonly used in many sugar-free products. However, for some people they can cause digestive discomfort and may leave a noticeable aftertaste.
These are just a few of the reasons we choose to use naturally derived sweeteners (allulose and monk fruit) instead.
-
No. All of our treats are made without gluten-containing ingredients.
We have not undergone third-party certification or lab testing of finished products, and therefore do not label our products “gluten-free” on packaging. This is something we are working toward.
-
No. While we use some certified organic ingredients, not all ingredients in our products are organic.
We do not claim organic certification unless all ingredients in a product meet certification requirements.
